First I need to give you a little background on this trip...because there is a lot. Before Adam and I's first official date he drove me to a friends house for a Labor Day Barbecue. This is the first time we had ever been alone together for more than just a few moments between sunday school and church. We started talking about my college courses and how I was taking Italian because I wanted to go to Italy so badly. He blurts out that it is one of the top places he wants to travel to also. So we bond over that in the car for awhile and a few weeks later we had a real first date at an Italian restaurant in Edwardsville, Bella Milano. Skip ahead to wedding planning. Italy was of course our first choice for our honeymoon destination. Unfortunately, we were both accounting majors and decided we didn't want to start our married life off in debt so we wouldn't go to Italy for the honeymoon. We made a pact then and there that we would go for our 5 year anniversary. From the day we said I do we started saving for this trip. From every paycheck we would pull a little money back and put it into our special savings account to go to Italy in May 2012. And this is the background story of why this 5 year anniversary trip was so very important to Adam and I. Now we shall get to the fun part...the trip!!
Well this morning we got up before dawn to catch our very early flight to Rome. The sun never showed it's lovely face until we were on the plane heading out. We arrived in Rome and our friends Andy and Katie picked us up from the airport. It was about a 3 hour drive to Sorrento and then another 2 hours to find our hotel. We actually drove up one side of the cliff...got lost a bunch, and then all the way across and down the other side. We basically ended up exactly where we started. After some phone calls and e-mails we eventually made contact with the hotel manager who drove his vespa to meet us and then led us to our apartment. You would never find this place on your own. It was a small drive way though someone else's property and lemon orchard to get to our apartment on the cliff. It was a great spot overlooking the bay in Sorrento.

After checking in and unloading our stuff we headed to town for some food and supplies for our home. We got lots of great food at the market, including a really good spicy salami and lots of italian cheese. We came home after the market and cooked a very spicy pasta and hung out with our great friends.
Happy Anniversary! Beautiful pictures too!
