Friday we had the most amazing dinner. We are trying to go out to dinner 1 time each weekend to try different restaurants. This weekend was a recommendation from our new Italian friend. So we headed to Michaelangelo's for italian. Supposedly the best italian in town and most authentic. It was! It was the best italian I have ever had. Homemade sauces and homemade noodles. Adam got some kind of seafood pasta that included the whole squid bodies, tentacles and all. They were small ones but quite a few. Amazing!!!
Adam worked most of Saturday. I was finally able to meet him around 7pm and we walked over to the Caliente Festival on Langstrasse. Huge latin festival going on with tons of good food and apparently lots of drinking. We were following one of his co-workers to the very back of the festival and we saw some girl who was completely smashed lying on the ground behind a bench. It looked like she just fell off the bench and was sleeping between it and the door of the building behind her. It reminded me of those yoga/drinking e-mails that were going around. It was pretty funny. We just kept walking and caught up to the group. Adam was starving so we milled around till we found what he wanted and as we did we saw paramedic's putting that girl on the stretcher...so it was less funny at that point. We hung out and watched people climb a pole. Like a huge tall fireman type pole cemented into the ground..so we thought at least. People were just hopping on and making their attempt to climb up it. When we got back from getting food, I don't know what happened, the pole was bent in half and on the ground. Who Knows?? That was the end of the night for us at caliente fest. We headed to a quieter outdoor bar to hangout and talk.
Sunday...was our day of rest. We slept in, and then Adam got to cook breakfast for me since he never gets to cook here. He was very excited to use the knives and chop stuff up! I still cleaned up =) After breakfast we headed out to enjoy the nice weather. It was around 73 degrees so perfect for running around. There is a moat in town besides the 2 rivers that flow through so we walked the moat to see what was around it. It's shallow so Adam was trying to figure out what kind of fish were in there. Then we walked down part of the lake and rented some paddle boats. The paddle boats here must have been engineered better because we did not have half the strain on our legs that usually happens in the plastic ones in the US. These looked like 2 seater race cars, metal, and painted like the swiss flag. It was so fun. Tons of people were swimming and laying out. Adam asked me what do swiss people do on the weekends and we totally figured it out. They ALL go to the parks surrounding the lake and lay out, bbq, play sports, and spend time with the family. There was hardly a patch of grass available if you wanted to sit down. We walked then over to our favorite ice cream place to get ice cream and walked to the other side of the lake. We eventually found a nice dock to put our feet in. It was ice! It was nice to cool our feet after walking the last few hours and pedaling! We headed home for dinner after that.
Our meat of the week was pulled pork taco's. they took awhile but it was nice to have some mexican type food. Then got to skype with Momma Ward for a little bit before heading to bed. Great Sunday!!
