Saturday Fun!

Well you would never believe it, but Adam finally had a whole weekend off to play! We had to start Saturday off with a little bit of work. We bought a table and chairs through english forum and had to go pick them up. We thought it would take two trips, but the chairs were surprisingly lighter than we expected. So we were those people on the tram with a table top and 4 chairs tied back to back. We hung out in the open section where strollers generally hangout, hoping that at 8:30 in the morning not a lot of people would need it yet. Luckily we survived. Only a few death rays were shot from the swiss people trying to figure out who the hoosiers moving on the tram were. I think now we finally have all the furniture we need at our place. All purchased and carried or transported through the rental van! Go us! We were hoping we wouldn't need any more, we really don't want to rent another van. I think we lost a few years of our lives freaking out while driving over here.

After moving everything here we ran to the store to get snacks and headed to the swimming dock to meet some friends. There is a dock set up with a small restaurant up the river from the main train station. We think it's the only real free place to swim in the river without having to pay to get into a pool first. We took up territory on the dock while it was cloudy. Only to get perfect sun about an hour later. Here the river Limmat flows north out of Lake Zurich so it is swift but most importantly it is freezing!! Glacier water YAY!! There is a bridge as you are heading towards the dock that people can jump off of and then float down to the dock to get out. You can't really swim swim back and forth because of the current. You need to go up and swim down to your spot. So, the boys decided to head up to the bridge, which was only 5 or 6 feet above the water and jump in. By the time they reached us they were purple...but no harm done. We hung out, relaxed, and enjoyed some Vitamin D. Our friends had brought an old back pack and tied it up to the metal bars attached to the dock and we put all our drinks in it to use it as a cooler. We thought it was an awesome idea. And apparently we were the first ones to ever scheme this idea because everyone and their brother stopped by to look at it or as they were floating told us our bag dropped. When we, in broken german, tried to explain they thought it was awesome. One person after we told them said oh you must be Australian. As cool as Australians are..nope we're claiming the idea. Go USA!! Towards the end of the afternoon me and Adam and the other couple went up to the bride and she and I eased in off the ladder and the boys jumped. We all floated down together, luckily dodging the swan going across the river.

I don't know what happened after that point of the day but I think all the hours Adam and Bryan put in at the office had just gotten to their heads and messed them up. Because they saw some people jumping from the bridge on the other side of the dock..you know like 30ft in the air, and decided...lets do it! So we watched them walk down and then all of a sudden there they were standing on the ledge of a very tall bridge. April, Bryan's wife, kept waving her arms trying to get them to move more towards the center of the bridge. They were a little to far right for our taste. Then all of a sudden bryan dropped like a bullet.  Success...his head re-emerged. Then Adam let go! Success again...his head re-emerged. They got out and headed back our direction. Nobody was seriously injured. I think some stings slapping the water were about the extent of it. Here is the bridge for reference

After that we packed up and headed home to cook dinner and get cleaned up. Since Adam was home we cooked dinner together like old times. Adam of course was in charge of chopping everything. I really shouldn't be in charge of anything that has to do with knives. I always end up nicking myself and fainting from the blood =) 30  min later we had some delicious Shephard's pie, courtesy of Alton Brown's recipe. Great Great Day!
